Bibigo and Tibits restaurant reviews

Hi everyone,

I've got two restaurant reviews for you this week!

The first is 'Bibigo', which is a Korean restaurant. There are currently two in London, one in Soho and a newly built one in Angel. I went to the new one in Angel with a friend on Thursday.
The place was spacious and the interior was really pretty and modern.
Upon arrival all the waiters/waitresses greeted me which is always nice.

The menu was pretty basic and there wasn't a massive variety/choice. I ordered a seafood rice dish. My friend is a vegetarian and unfortunately they didn't have many veggie options! She opted for the classic Bi Bim Bap dish but was pretty unimpressed with the lack of options for her.

The food was basic and quite bland, not what I was expecting for a dish costing over £11.
I'm not sure if this was down to unexperienced staff due to the recent opening or if it was just that branch. (Or maybe me and my friend were just unlucky!)
Either way, I don't think I will be making my way down there again and I give this restaurant a measly 5/10.

On Friday I went to 'Tibits', a vegetarian restaurant with my friend Lizzie. (I should've came here with my veggie friend instead!)
It's located on Heddon Street but I believe it is a chain restaurant.
I've never been here before so I didn't really know what to expect.

It is a buffet type restaurant where you pick up a plate and choose what you want to go on it. Then you go up to the counter and pay by weight. It sort of reminded me of Nandos where you go up to pay instead of there being waiters and waitresses.
It was slightly pricey, however the food was tasty and flavoursome and it really filled me up!
I had a mixture of vermicelli, chickpeas, dal, pasta, couscous and bread. I also got a juice which contained apple, fennel and lemon. It was really refreshing, just what I needed after a long day at work.

The place was really busy and I really liked the lights in there, it had kind of a Asian/oriental vibe to it haha.
I would give this restaurant a 8/10 and I would definitely go again!

Has anyone been to any of these restaurant before? Or any veggie/Korean restaurant recommendations?! :)

Gone Girl, Book VS Film- my thoughts!

Hello everyone,
So I'm a little late jumping on the Gone Girl bandwagon. But I recently saw the film and read the book. I thought I would just make a post on what I thought of the book vs the film.

I saw the film first and walking into the cinema not really knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. From the first scene it was gripping and breathtaking; some scenes were truly graphic and gory, so given the certificate of 18, was definitely a good decision. However, I got a bit lost on the storyline towards the end and the ending baffled me, haha. However, I think Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike portrayed the characters brilliantly. Knowing me if I don't understand something I will either google it or wiki it, so that is exactly what I done when I got home! I knew I had to read the book and ordered it from Amazon for only £3!

The book was more indepth and I understood it a lot more at the ending. I guess I literally need it to be spelt out for me rather than me figuring it out for myself. :P It was also very clever at how the book was written; alternating between the two characters in 1st person. It gave us, as readers a peek inside their minds and intentions. I was constantly visualising the film when readng the book and it gave me a vivid imagination into what was actually happening in the book at the time. The book was well written and I liked the short, snappy chapters/paragraphs at the end building up the suspense.

Overall, I think both book and film lived up to one another. If I had to pick; I would choose the film over the book, it was tense and kept me hooked throughout. Whereas the book took me a couple of weeks to read, I think that's saying something right?

What are your thoughts? :)

American Sniper Film Preview

Last weekend I went to a preview of 'American Sniper' at the Stratford East Picturehouse cinema in London.

American Sniper is a biographical war film, based on the true story of Chris Kyle; dubbed as USA's most lethal sniper in military history. He was often nicknamed the 'legend' for his incredible ability to kill but he feels guilty for the men he could not save. The film focuses on the four tours he did on the Iraq war whilst also depicting the agony and nerves his wife and children had to go through. He had a son and a daughter with whom he struggles to form a fatherly bond.

It is a moving and emotional film about the hard reality of war and the consequences throughout. I was gripped from the beginning but at the same time a couple of scenes were hard to watch due to the graphic scenes of violence and gore. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this film and would definitely recommend to others.

Chris Kyle was played by Bradley Cooper. He really had to beef up for this film! Haha
His wife was played by Sienna Miller and it was directed by Clint Eastwood.

I would give this film a solid 9/10.

American Sniper is out in UK cinemas on Friday 16th January.
